Our London correspondent writing on the 12th of Ma roll says:—Mr. John Pro use continues to add to his London laurels. Last Tuesday night he was associated with Miss Irene I'enso, a naw and marvellously-gifted young lady violinist, in 8. concert at St. •lames' Hall, which drew ft crowded and most enthusiastic audience. Mr. l'rouse contributed no fewer than six songs to the programme, including two by Tseuuiliowskv and two by Brahms, all being so difficult of interpretation alike in the sentiment, and the execution as to make severe demands on any but a specially gifted sinffor. It is therefore all the morn creditable to the New Zealand batilonu that by the admission of all his critics he thoroughly rose to the occasion and gave ft must artistic and expressive raadiue of all bis songs. At another Kt. dames' Hall ennnort on the following (Wednesday) evening, the New Zealand baritone again sang, and the Pali Mall Gazette says: " Mr. John Prouse sang' 'O Ruddier Than the Cherrv'. and Gounod's song far Vulcan frorr 'Philemon ct Baucis' with much feeling. On the whole the consort was one wliieh entitles it to real praise from every critical point of view." N.Z. saddle tweed trousers, only 7s lid pair; better ditto, 0s lid pah. These are very special value. — Rufihbrook and Bridgan.
