No. 3 GARRISON ARTILLERY RIFLB COMPETITION. Ox Saturday last the members of the. No. 8 Company New Zealand Garrison Artillery Volunteers fired the first match for Mr. Teutenberg's medal on tho Mount Eden rifle range. The conditions were 10 shot,-?, with one sighter. prone, and 11 shots magazine fire'' sitting, at. EGCyds; 10 shots in the magazine with the "nut oft' pissed, and one shot in the chamber. A time allowance of one minute was allowed from the commence to cease fire. The day was favourable for shooting, and soma fairly good scores were made. The- No. 1 Ohinemuri Rifles held a competition to-day for the cup presented to the company by Mr. O. H. Rhodes. The previous holder was Lieutenant Hubbard. The cup has to be won three times at intervals, or twice in succession, before it becomes the winner's property. The match was a handicap one, the ranges being 300. 500, and 700 yards, with seven shots at each range. The winner turned up in Sergeant Shaw, who was on scratch, and who shot consistently throughout. There were fifteen competitors, tho highest scores registered being as follows: — Sergeant Shaw (scratch). 24, 32, 25: total, 81; Corporal Dennoriv (three points start), 23. 28, 27: total, 81; Corporal Moore (four points start). 24, 29, 24: total, 81 Colour Sergeant Andrews (scratch), 25. 32, 21: total, 78; Private Hatton (three points start). 22, 28, 25: total. 78; Lieutenant Hubbard (scratch), 24, 24. 25: total, 73: Lieutenant Nathan (ten points start), 19, 26, 16: total, 71; Corporal Oj?den (three points start), 21, 25, 14: total. 63: Private Thomson (two points start), 21, 23, 15: total, 61.
