FIRE BRIGADE COMPETITION.

[by TELEGRAPH.-— own cobbespoxbent.] Thames, Sunday. A competition for a medal presented by Mr. Win. Mc-Cullough took place in the Victoria Reserve on Saturday afternoon, between the members of the Thames Fire Brigade. The contest took the form of a one-man coupling event, and 17 members of the brigade competed. The winner turned up in Fireman Jeiikiu, whose handicap of five seconds reduced his time to 33'2-s 'seconds. He was closely followed by Firemen Corcoran (nine seconds handicap) and Newdick (10 seconds handicap), who tied for second place, their time being 33 3-5 seconds. Corcoran and Newdiek will have to run oft" for second prize, which was donated by the brigade. Fireman Alexander again showed his smartness at his work in beating all his previous performances by putting up the fast time of 34' 3-5 seconds from scratch. The judges were Superintendent A. Burn and ex-Fireman F. Grubb, the timekeepers Messrs. H. L. "Wright and H. Alexander; starter* Mr. P. Watson ; handicappers, Superintendent Burns, Captain Addison, and Fireman Stone.
