In the binding championships final, Wahlberg (New South Wales) defeated Hyland (Victoria) by 21 to 16; Strong (New South Wales) defeated Wright. (Victoria). For the third inter-State match New South Wales defeated Queensland, and Victoria defeated Tasmania, MAIL SERVICES. Melbourne, April 9. As no mention lias been made by the Imperial authorities of the Orient Company, it is assumed that the renewal of the P. and 0. contract is for a fortnightly service, leaving it open to the Commonwealth to make its own arrangements with the Orient Company. OCCUPANCY TAX. Hoiurt, April 9. The second reading of the Occupancy Tax Bill was carried by four votes. VICTORIAN RAILWAYS. Melbourne, April 9. Mr. Bent states that the railways at the end of June, in addition to working expenses, will earn full interest charges on the railway debt, which constitutes three-fourths of the whole debt of the State.
