ALLEGED STABBING AFFRAY.
■■■'■"■■ I I 111 II ■ .1111 II '■' A chakoe of causing grievous bodily harm to a man named Thomas Brennan, by stabbing him in the throat with a pocket-knife, was preferred against John Perry, labourer, at tho Police Court yesterday, before Mr. C. Kettle, S.M. Sub-Inspector Black appeared for the police, and Mr. J. O. Martin for the defendant. Sub-Inspector Black said he would apply for a remand until Friday next, as the injured man, who had been removed to the hospital, would not bo able to get about before that time. Counsel said the facts, as far as he knew, them, were that the defendant, who has been a resident of Auckland for the past twenty years, was married twelve months ago. His wife very often frequented a certain, house, and on the night of the 14th insfc., as his client was passing these premises, he heard her voice. In consequence he went in to>' get her out, but she refused to come, and a struggle ensued. During this a third party,. the man whom the prosecution alleged that his client had stabbed, appeared upon the scene and commenced to interfere. The result was that he received a wound from a pocket-knife in the neck. His Worship granted the adjournment, and allowed bail in two sureties of £50 each.
