TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l have neither the time nor the inclination to reply in ortpnso to Mr. F. S. Gordon's letter on the above subject, but for the information of some of your readers I may state that Mr. Gordon referred to as an authority a certain Dr. Alfred Tlusscl Wallace, who wrote a work on bud nationalisation ; he also declared in print his belief in spiritualism, and he also attacked vaccination. Now—it may be my misfortune— I have never met an educated, intelligent man who believed in either of the first two; and the people of Christchurch, under the direction of Dr. Mason, the head of our Health Department, certainly do not give the -slightest credence to Wallace's theories and ideas re smallpox.—l am, etc., GEORGE WILKS.
