WELLINGTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL.
DIRECTOR APPOINTED.
[BY Tr-LEGKAPJI.—OWN COBKK&rONDKNT.] Wellington, Monday. News was received by cable message from London, by the Technical School authorities to-day, of the appointment of Mr. W. S. LaTrobe, formerly of Auckland, as the director 01 the Technical SehooL in succession to Mr. A. 1). Riley, resigned. Mr. LaTrobe. who went to England three- or four years ago, is a graduate of the New Zealand University. He received his earlier training at the Paterangi school, in the Auckland district, and later on at the Auckland College and Grammar Scnool, gaining a junior scholarship in -1833 in the following subjects : — Latin, English, French, mathematics, chemistry, and electricity. He took his B.A. degree in 1892, and his M.A. in 1G94, with second-class honours in mathematics and mathematical physics. Mr. LaTrobe is not likely to reach New Zealand until the second week in May, permission having been granted him by the Agent-General to delay his departure until he lias procured tha latest information in regard to electricity.
