WiRTHS' CIRCUS AND ZOO.
OPERA HOUSE
The repetition of the "Power of (it/Id" at. ihe Opera House last evening showed that so far as the popularity of this powerful drama is concerned there is no necessity tor a change, for the present at any rate, The theatre was crowded last, .light, and the marks of emphatic approval which the audience were not at all slow to express proved that the play was a strong one, and was most capably rendered by every member of the caste-. A change, however, is to be made for to-night. The "Vac© That Kills" will be produced, and judging by the excellence of the " Power of Gold" will turn out to be as great a success from «■!' points of view as .Mr. San ford's initial production in Auckland.
I'acLod houses are ruling at the circus with a regularity which, considering the immense amount of accommodation provided, is somewhat, remarkable. On the occasion of the " fashionable) night" last night the first seats were filled to overflowing. A matinee will be held this afternoon, commencing at three o'clock. Tiie present programme will be presented to-night for the last. time. '< Tho train for Henderson will be delayed to-night, until eleven o'clock, to enable residents to see the end of tiio circus before leaving. A weightlifting competition is announced for next Thursday.
" Til HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT.''
At His Majesty's Theatre this evening Mr. P. R. Dix will introduce his production of the comic pantomime, "The House That, .lack Built." Mr. Dix has spared no expense in making the production worthy of the best traditions. A company, numbering over 50 artists, are taking the principal characters, and a largo 11; i bus been engaged preparing the stage for the beautiful scenery and mechanical effects. Mr. Dix arrives in town this morning to personally supervise the production, and a successful season should result.
POPULAR CONCERTS,
Much interest is evinced in the forthcoming series of popular concerts at the Choral Hall, under the direction of Miss Lilian Tree and Air Louis Blitz. The first concert takes place next Saturday, and no expense has been spared by the management to make the concert a big success. The popular tenor, Mr. Walter Whvte, just now on tour with the Slapoffski Concert Company, has been engaged, also Madame Oasier. Mrs. Macklow, M IKS Rose Lonnard, Miss Maude Tobias, Miss Olivia sworn, Mr. Reginald Mario, and Mi. Gerald Ralph. Mi Midgler will preside at the organ and piano. Should this couture prove a success, it is intended to run these concerts on lines similar to three held at the Queen's Hall and C'ovent Garden, London. A complete change of artistes will bo the rule at each concert.
