J iid adjoining has so far been taken up. p'/Ast. experience of Whanqamata shows Jhat the rich vein matter fails to live downJivards. and .until work of a, deep-level char- : /'actcr has been carried out on this new find § it is unwise to expi«ss on opinion of too f optimistic a character.; At the same time it is the opinion of mining authorities that the previous workings on this fieui have been.carried out at too shallow a depth. So far as the deep area section of its veins is concerned, practically nothing whatever is known of their character or value. If the veins of Tairua, AVaihi, and Karangahake carry their values juto the deeper, country, why not the veins of the Whanga-mat-d district. It- is to tip hoped that this find wil' give a permanent lease of life for the Whangamata district.
