The police evidence showed that a bottle containing perchloride of mercury was found at Ashley bridge, close to the spot where Parkinson was standing, just before taking a draught of whisky, which made him violently ill. Mr. Alexander Bickerton, (government analyst, said the analysis showed traces of metallic mercury in the stomach, and the cup ' l oin wliith deceased drauk also showed traces of mercury. The deceased's solicitor stated that Mr. Parkinson was pecuniarily embarrassed, and had an overdraft of £1.800 at tilt bank, and a deficiency was expected in the estate. The coroner summed up at some length, and after fifteen minutes retirement the jury returned a verdict, that tke deceased died on Jaunaiy 13, from the effects of a dose of irritant poison, namely, perchloiids of mercury, im-tnikmalir ce-'f-administcred, on January -1, at Ashley bridge, rud no blame or suspicion was attachable to anybody.
