The first annual meeting of the I'r.rd of Governors, appointed under the New Zealand Institute Act of last session, was held to-day, delegates being present from Wellington, Jlawke's Bay, Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago. Professor Mutton, of Ghristchureli, was . Ucted president. The lilies 01 the institute were revised, and it was decided that societies seeking incorporation are to consist ui not less than 25 members, subscribing wot less than £25 annually. Regarding the publication 01 papers in the transactions fit the institute, rules >veie amende' 1 to provide that the Board shall determine what papers are to be published, and may elect a publishing committee to recommend papers tot publication. In regnal to honorary members it was agreed that the Board o' Governors shall have powei to elect non-resident honorary members, th. number not to exceed 30. .Mi. Hamilton was elected editor of ihe Transactions, and Mr. Joyiit, the secretary.
