The mail H t r amor Clallam, from Seattle, foundered in a fierce gala four miles off Victoria, British Columbia. Fifty-three persona were drowned. Too seas extinguished the fires, and the, steamer became unmanageable. The women avid children were placed in three lifeboats, which capsized, and all were, drowned. Tugs rescued the thirty-three remaining on board.
