WAREHOUSEMEN'S PICNIC.
The warehouse employees of Archibald j Clark and Sons, Limited, held their annual j picnic at Kohimarama on Saturday la.st, on the grounds ot Mr. J. Gallagher, who had ! kindly granted permission for their use. j Favoured with fine weather, and after a most , enjoyable drive down, the company were en- j tertained with light refreshments, and a. i programme of sports was started. Mr. E. ' Johnson, of Sargood, Son, and Ewen's, ably ; acted as starter, and the various events were J closely contested, the handicapping of Air. : H. G. Thomson giving every satisfaction. i The following are the results of the various ! events : — ; iOuyds Handicap: E. Allan, 1; H. Hales, a I Half-mile Bicycle: T. G. Rowe, 1; A. Bow, 2. . High Jump: A. Bow, 1; Colbeck, Garr< and Wrigley tying for second place. Half-mile Walk: F. Smith, 1; Nutter, >*■ Wrigley, 3. 200 Yds Handicap K. Clark, 1; Colbeck, 2. One-mil© Bicycle: A. Slator, 1; A. Bow, 2. Three-legged Race: Wells and Hale, 1; Fisher and Nutter, 2. 440 Yds Handicap: H. Lowrie, 1: Bond, 2. Seniors' Race : Young, 1; Martin, 2. Bovs' Race: Shove, 1; Butler, 2. 880 Yds Handicap: Wrigley, 1; Wells, 2. Relay Race: Office team, consisting- of Messrs. Thomson, Clark, and Colbeck, 1; ground floor, Messrs. Allen, Foote, and Garreft, 2. Before departing homewards, the respected and popular employers were accorded a hearty vote of thanks for their liberality and kindness on this occasion, and hearty cheers were given for them, also for the visitors for their help in making the event such a success.
