THE RECENT TRAM ACCIDENT.

Consioeeable public interest is being manifested in the inquest on the victims of the recent tramway accident, which will be resumed to-day at the Auckland City Police Court. The Hon. J. A. Tole (Crown Prosecutor) has decided to watch the proceedings on behalf of the police; Mr. T. Cotter, who appeared for the Tramways Company at the opening of the inquest, will represent the City Council; Mr. W. Coleman (solicitor to the Tramways Company), and along with him Mr. J. C. Martin and Mr. Jackson Palmer, will represent the company ; and there will also be present on behalf of the company, Mr. P. M. Hansen, managing director; Mr. M. F. Carey, the company's engineer; and Mr. Mahood, representative of the Brush Electric Engineering wno supplied the cars. Mr. C. A. Vickerman, district engineer, Public Works Department, will also be present. Mr. Hugh Campbell will represent the mo tor man, Humphreys, and Mr. C. J. Parr will be present on behalf of the members of the Caley family, of whom, it will be remembered, one was killed and three injured. The inquiry will be conducted by Mr. H. W. Brabant, S.M.

Inquiries made last night as to the condition of the injured, show that Mr. Clark, of Wanganui, who is staying with friends at Ivingsland, and who sustained a fracture of the base of skull, was not bo well on Monday, but had improved slightly yesterday. His medical attendant, Dr. Girdler, reports that ho is doing as well as can be expected in the circumstances. The members of the Caley family are progressing Mrs. and Miss Hill, who are at Miss Greens' private hospital, " Lynnholme, have improved, and their medical attendant is satisfied with their progress. The little girl Blundell, who is in the General Hospital, is now doing very well. Constable Hodgson, of Eden Terrace, has two purses, with contents, which were found on the scene of the accident, and appear to have been dropped by passengers on the cars. Owners are wanted for the same.
