TO-DAY'S CARNIVAL IN CALLIOPE • • DOCK. The Auckland Swimming Club's grand swimming carnival, to be hold in the Calliope Dock this afternoon, in aid of tho Veterans' Home, promises to..be one of the most successful natatorial events of the season. His Excellency the Governor (Lord Ranfurly), who is grand patron of the club, has announced his intention of being present. Good seating accommodation has been provided. Tho programme consists of 25 events, and it is anticipated, that there will be a very large attendance. During the afternoon an exhibition of trick and fancy swimming will be given by the Messrs. Cossar. Great interest is being taken in the rowing clubs', Northland and royal mail races, together with tho ladies' bracelet and the Ranfurly handicap. Steamers will leave the Devonport ferry tee at intervals from halfpast one p.m. As the Auckland Swimming Club are devoting the proceeds to the Veterans' Home, the carnival deserves a large measure of support.
