The handsome double-page picture, showing the settlers' first Christmas in the bush, will appeal to those who know the surroundings of the pioneer and to those city people who cannot realise that such conditions exist now in the back blocks of the North Island. The import-ant current events of the week are admirably illustrated,, the Mayors garden party, Sir-Joseph Ward at Rotorua, the departure of Sir Rupert. Clarke's new yacht, form only a few that are; dealt with. The literary pages, which are exceptionally well filled, contain numerous Christinas stories and articles, many of which are specially written for the occasion.
The Christmas edition of the Weekly News cannot be adequately described in a brief paragraph, because it possesses so many attractive features. Briefly, however, it can claim the merit of being one of the largest special editions ever issued in this colony, at the ordinary price of sixpence, and beyond all doubt it is the best. The number is now on sale, and can be obtained through all agents and runners. Already a great demand has set in for the issue, and those who desire to secure copies must not delay in ordering. rh£
