The following letter from the Auckland •North Island Main Trunk Railway League lias been sen) to the l'remier: — :-.;'-■• "Sit, —We have the honour to inform i : you that we duly received your letter of " the; 16th ult., in reply to ours, relative to 'the Government issuing debentures specially to construct a portion of the North of SvAuckland Main Trunk railway, between .Ahiiroa and Maungaturoto, stating that '.1 you, had referred the matter to the Hon. Wis Minister for Public Works. Since 1 then the Hon. the Minister for Public 'Works writes that he has referred the .matter to the Cabinet. A* the people of •Auckland, and the whole of the North of Auckland, are waiting anxiously for an answer, we beg again respectfully to bring ~;tty vitally important question, to the ■Northern settlers, of the construction of *his railway under your notice and to ask [or a reply. The glaring injustice of push- . lag on railways in the South, such as v Otago Central, 'Midland railway, Hokitika&as railway, and starving the North of Auckland, rankles in the breast of all ; northern settlers, and calls for speedy recess. —Thanking you in anticipation for a .prompt reply, we are, etc., G.
