TECHNICAL EDUCATION AT THAMES.
[by TELEGRAPH.-—OWN correspondent.] Thames, Wednesday. A meeting of the combined school committees of the Thames district was held tonight, at the Waiokaraka school, for the purpose oi urging upon the Board of Education the necessity of establishing a technical and manual training school at the Thames. There were 22 members present, including the chairmen of the Waiokaraka, Parawoi. Kauaeranga, and 'i'araru committees. Mr. J. McDonald, chairman of the Kauaeranga School Committee, presided. On the motion of Mr. Danby, seconded by Mr. Burns, a resolution was passed, " That the combined school committees approach the Board of Education with a request that a .technical and manual training school be established at the Thames." A second resolution was also carried, on the motion of Mr. Danby, seconded by Mr. W. D. Reid, "That a copy of the resolution be forwarded to the member for the district (the Hon. J. 'McQowan), asking his assistance when the matter is brought before the Government by the Board of Education."
