ANOTHER DIVIDEND. - The directors of the Tairua Broken Hills Gold Mining Company have declared another dividend (the tenth) of 3d per share, payable on and after Monday, October 19. In the Thames Talisman Gold Mining Company's mine, the crosscut being put in to cut the reef in the left-hand wall of the main drive has been advanced 14ft. During the week a change for the better came in, the sandstone being of a milder character, assisting progress. The channel of country is congenial for the existence of gold-bearing reefs. WAIHI EXTENDED G.M. CO. The drive in the Waihi Extended Gold Mining Company's mine is now in 50ft from the crosscut. The country penetrated contains a mixture of quartz" and calcite leaders, in which there are a few minerals. KLI ORA LEAD AND SILVER MINES. Mr. Thomas Morrin, in conjunction with Messrs. Edwards and Co., is sending to London, per s.s. Niwaru, a parcel of our tons of ore from the Kia Ora Lead and Silver Mines (Te Aroha), for treatment by Messrs. McEwan and Co. MAY QUEEN SYNDICATE. A crushing of two loads of ore broken from the Cardigan No. 2 lode at No. 2 level has been completed for a return of 4oz 14dwt of melted gold, valued at £14 7s lOd. THAMES BORING SCHEME. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OW.V CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Tuesday. In the Thames boring operations a depth of 693 ft has been attained in the borehole. Everything is now progressing satisfactorily, and from the present point the boring operations will be watched with greater interest than formerly, owing to the fact that unexplored country is now being penetrated. THAMES WARDEN'S COURT. [BT TELEGRAPH. — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] ' Thames, Tuesday. At a sitting of the Warden's Court, "held this morning, before Mr. R. S. Bush, the following applications, having received the consent of the Minister for Mines, were finally dealt with and granted as from September 22 last: Golden Belt Gold Mining Company, six months' protection for the Golden Belt Extended special quartz claim, Neavesville; Mananu Gold Mining Company, six months' protection for five residence sites, special site, and a tramway, Whangamata. The following applications were recommended to the Minister for Mines for : — J. M. Agnew, Champion special quartz claim, Neavesville; Chelmsford Gold Mining Company, six months' protection for the Chelmsford special quartz claim, Neavesville; H. H. Adams, six months' protection for an aerial tramway, machine site, and waterrace, Upper Tararu, the application to be granted in the name of the New Eclipse Gold Mining Company; Wm. D. Tilsley and J. Newdick, six months' protection for the Sheet Anchor and Capstan special quartz claims, Omahu.
The following applications were granted: —Puru Consolidated Gold Mining Company, six months' protection for the Russell and Russell Extended special quartz claims, Puru ; H. H. Adams, permission to work the Vulcan and Eclipse special claims, Upper Tararu, with three men each for a period of six months; May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company, permission to work the May Queen Extended special quartz claim, ; Thames, with six men for six months; Thos. Mawick, six months' protection for the New Anchor special quartz claim, Hape ' Creek, Thames ; Wm. Winter and Alexander i Aitken, absolute forfeiture of the Welcome Jack special quartz claim, Gumtown, as from'! September 25 last. . """ ' ' ' i R. S. Martin v. Wm. Bailey: Plaint for the*forfeiture of the New Gloucester special quartz claim, Karaka Creek, Thames, for non-compliance with the mining regulations. After the evidence of the complainant and the mining registrar had been taken, the, Warden issued a decree of forfeiture, with costs, amounting to £2 17s, against the defendant. .
