WAIKATO HUNT CLUB.
I [I'HOSI OTJB OWN CORRESPONDENT.]/ A MEETING of the Waikato Hunt Club was, held at the National Hotel, Cambridge, orj Friday. There was a. fair attendance. ' Mr. Norman Banks (master) occupied the chair. Mr. Boston S. Couper (lion, seereta by) presented a report, which stated that the past season, with 95 members, constituted a, record, and there was in hand a satisfactory bank balance with which to commence next season's operations.. The race meeting, held, under the auspices of the club, had also proved '• most successful, due mainly to good entries.' large gate money, and the sportsmanlike sup- [ l port given to the club. The master's, optimis- : tic view had proved correct, for it was due tor: his policy of increasing the stake rnontev and, having race members' tickets that j.uch all-', round success was due. The thanks of the! club were due to Mr. A. R. Kine for actinia a? deputy-master during Mr. Banks' absence, to Mr, vim-Brown for hunting the hounds' during the huntsman's absence, and to the. outside treasurers, Messrs. Q. Walsh (Kihikihi), W. G. Rao and .Ferguson (WhatawhataJ for collecting in their respective districts. The/ balance-sheet covered the Hunt Club account) and race meeting account, the former showing a credit balance of £31 4s 9d, and the latter! %'i £49 2s 9d. The report and balance-sheet were, adopted, the secretary coming in for deserved praise. Mr. Couper intimated that for health! reasons ho was compelled to resign the secret i taryship, and the resignation was accepted! 1 with regret. In token of appreciation of thti" i valuable services rendered, Mr. Couper was) r elected an honorary life member. A vote oil i thanks was passed to Mr. Banks for his services as master of the club. Mr. C C. BuckI land reported a credit balance as the result! jof the recent Hunt Club ball. It wasi decided) i to devote this surplus towards making a race-* ; course. Mr. E. J. R. Smith was unanimously! ! elected to the position of•secretary. Thcf i chairman reported the success of his negotia- <* j tions with the committee of the Waisato Cein ; tral Agricultural and Pastoral Association.:; j lii consideration of his guarantee that the club ! would spend £50 towards making a suitable j racecourse on and adjoining the association's i show ground, the latter had offered the free i use of the grounds and stand on tii:ree days) |of each .year for four years. The chairman's! j action was approved, and as £29 has already) : ] been promised towards the work it was dw , cided to at once commence the work.
