One of the most interesting of the London Polo Club'j new playing members is the brilliant young Indian ruler, the Maharajah of Jodhpur. In England he is an honoured and welcome guest. In his own land he is lord of a State of 37,000 square . miles, which is greater than that of any of the Lesser European States, and exceeds the area of Bavaria and Saxony combined. His Highness maintains a standing army of nearlj four thousand infantry, and as many of the most brilliant cavalry in India. Also he upkeeps an armament of splendid modern long-range guns. He is only twenty-three, but succeeded to his I position eight years ago.
