Moore, teller of the Bank of Australasia at Feilding, has ben transferred to Victoria, .and Mr. A. G. F. Lawson, of PaJmerston North, has been appointed to the vacancy. . Mr. David McCaig, who enteral the Union Steamship Company's employ over 24 years ago as chief engineer of the Roiomakana, has been appointed shore engineer of the company's works at Sydney. At Dunedin last week Mr. R. Johnson, Wellington, manager of the firm of A. and T. Burt, . Limited, was presented by the Dunedin employees of the firm with a case of cutlery, to mark the occasion of his mar-, riage, j . . Mr. Michael Flurscheim, a former' citizen of Auckland, is now at Lugano, in Switzerland. He intends to ' return to New Zealand towards the close of the present year, and to take up his residenco at Botorua. Mr. Davidson, manager of the Australian Land Company, arrived at Fremantle on May II by the Omrah from London. Ho is coming to New Zealand in connection with the resumption by the Government of some oi the company's estates. Bishop Frodaham,.. of North Queensland, arrived at Invercargill by the Victoria to obtain assistance in 'New Zealand tc re-build the Anglican Cathedral and churches destroyed- by the Townsville cyclone. 1 "He subsequently left for Dunedin. . . .:, „ Our Wellington correspondent states that Mr. and Mrs! Edward MeKenna, of Wanga■xiui.: celebrated their golden wedding yesterday. Mr. MeKenna, who is stationmaster ■ at Wanganui, landed in 1846 with the 65th ] Regiment, in which he served for 21 years, during which time he fought in ''various engagements with the natives, between 1846 and 1866, and was for a short time under Major Von Tempsky. Gallantry in the field won him the coveted V.C., and a commission as ensign. He sold out when the regiment returned to England, and subsequently entered ■ the railway service, with which he has now been connected for ever 36 years, on the Invercargill, Canterbury, and Wanganui sections. Mr. and Mrs. MeKenna were married at Wellington 50 years ago. With reference to the notices which appeared in the. newspapers some timi ago, that Mr. David Craig, the general manager of th~ Now Zealand Insurance Company, had beei granted twelve month's leave of absence, wc are now informed that he has 'since arranged with the directors per- •' manently to retire. Mr. Craig entered the .'service in Auckland in 1867,.and has played ■'no inconsiderable part in building up the 'jompany towards its present prosperous and stable position. Aftei being some time in the.head office, Mi. Craig was appointed to the charge of the Canterbury branch at Christchurch, where be remained for 28 years. On the death oi Mr. Weston in 1895 Mi. Craig was promoted to the general managership, and undei his control the business ha* continued to make rapid strides. He ha? been a conspicuous figure in underwriting circles for ? lengthened period, and having altogether been in harness lor over 50 years he has well earned the leisure which his numerous friends hope he may long enjoy. We also understand that the directors of the New Zealand Insurance Company have liberally acknowledged . Mr. Craig's long and valuable sorvices. S
