ENTERTAINMENTS AND MEETINGS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE.

That threatening weather conditions affect Auckland amusement-seekers but little when anything first-class is to bo seen was again demonstrated last evening, when His Majesty's Theatre was crowded in all parts to witness the production of " Sweet Nell of Old Drury" by Mr. George Musgrove's Company. Needless to say, Miss Nellie Stewart's characterisation of Nell Gwynne won for that brilliant and gifted actress the highest measure of approval from the audience. Other members of the company also claimed their full meed of praise, and altogether the performance was clearly one that delighted those present. To-night His Excellency the Governor and Lady Ranfurly will witness the production of Paul Kester's famous comedy drama. OPERA HOUSE. Continued interest is shown in Mr. Wm. Anderson's Dramatic Company's season at the Opera House, another large audience witnessing last night's production of "Night Birds of London." The piece received an admirable interpretation, and thoroughly pleased the spectators. It will be produced to-night for the last time, and the season closes to-morrow night with the presentation of the melodrama, "The World Against Her."
