DEBTS OF THE HUMBERTS.

Paris, March 22.—Two accountants charged to examine the claims of the creditors of Mine. Humbert have estimated the total at no less than £4,000,000 sterling. Frederic Humbert, the husband of the notorious lady, on being informed of this, said the amount was grossly exaggerated.

He said he had drawn up a list of his own, and the claims totalled £800,000 exactly, a fifth of the official estimate. He deducted from this the £640,000 represented by paper obligations, from which the- Humbert family had derived no benefit. This left only £160,000 owing. But the Humbert estate would realise £100,000, therefore the deficit was only a trifle of £60,000. On Saturday the "family mansion in the Avenue de In Grandc-Armee was sold for £12,880.
