MOUNT EDEN ROAD BOARD ELECTION.
TO THE EDITOR. —An election for three members of the above Board takes place in about four weeks from now, and it is high time that the ratepayers were taking steps to bring out three candidates to oppose the retiring members, who certainly cannot render a very good account of thsir stewardship during the past twelve months. As usual, the Board will have a delightful little story to tell the ratepayers at the annual meeting. They will relate how they have waited upon Mr. Hansen, and how that gentleman had promised to submit certain proposals to this English directors of the Tramways Company and they will go on to say, in that innocent way they have, that negotiations between Mr. Hansen and the Board may be brought to a satisfactory conclusion at any time! I sincerely hope, however, that the ratepayers will hot listen to anysueh absurdities, but will show their appreciation (?) of the Board by replacing the retiring members with better, men.—l am, etc., Ratepayer.
