ATHLETIC NOTES.

CITY DISTRICT FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Auckland City District Football Club was held in the Thistle Hotel, Queen-street, last evening, Mr. M. J. Sheahan (vice-president) in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The annual report of the committee congratulated the cluu on their success in winning the senior championship last season, despite the great disadvantages under which they had worked in their training. The committee had in the interim purchased a freehold allotment in Baker-street, on which a training hall and gymnasium was being erected, and would soon be in readiness for training purposes for the ensuing season. The club was now in a better financial position than at any period of its existence, due in a measure to the liberal donations received from the president and vice-presidents. Special thanks were due to Messrs. William Coleman and M. J. Sheahan for the services rendered the club in completing the purchase of the ground. The statement of accounts showed receipts to be £118 17s 6d and expenditure £113 5s (including £75 paid for ground), leaving a cash balance of £5 x2s 6d, in addition to assets amounting to upwards of £30. In moving the adoption of the report and accounts, the Chairman referred to the success of the senior fifteen last year, and urged the club members to greater efforts during the ensuinsr season. Ho also referred to the splendid services rendered by the secretary, Mr. Donaldson, and on the motion of one of the members it was decided to vote the officer mentioned an honorarium of £5 ss.

A vote of sympathy and condolence was accorded Mrs. Stone, widow of the club's old captain, the late Mr. C. Stone, in his time one of the most enthusiastic and hard-work-ins members of the club. The secretary announced that a team entered by the club had won the relay race at tho Northern Swimming Club's sports on Saturday last, and had voted tho value of (ho trophy (£5) towards the training-shed fund. A vote of thanks was accorded to the team for their generosity. SUBURBS FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Suburbs District Football Club was held last night in the Public Hall at Onehunga. Air. E. Sutherland presided, and there was a good attendance of members present. Mr. S. Somcrfield (secretary) read the- annual report, which stated that the past season was rather an uneventful one, the usual thing happening— senior players not putting in an appearance until the first club match, and, of course, beins' out of all form, they were beaten. Towards the end of the season, after striking form, a very creditable show was made, perhaps the best game being against North Shore, who were badly beaten. The financial statement shows a credit balance of £13 10s 2d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The- Chairman said he thought the lime had arrived when the club should endeavour to obtain a suitable building of their own for training purposes. This suggestion was supported by Mr. A. G. Pilkington, who also stated that he thought the club should increase the active members' subscription.;. The splendid credit balance was largely owing to the generosity of the honorary members. Mr. Pilkington also urged upon all emergency players to be prepared to play when they attend the matches. It was resolved that the club enter the usual number of teams for the several competitions. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:;—-President. Mr.. D. A. Sutherland; vice-presidents. Drs. Makgill. Pabst, Maitland, Messrs. M. M. Kirkbride. M.H.R., D. The English Union authorities asked that the intended tour should be postponed until the season of 1904, and the committee has cabled agreeing to the request. The various unions have been asked to ascertain how many of its players would be prepared to make the tour under a pure amateur status, and the response so far is satisfactory.
