WAIKATO AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.
A MEETING of the General Committee of the above association was held in Hamilton on Thursday. There were present: Messrs. J. Baraga (president), J. 0. Allen, C. Day. W Omtty, M. G. Fairer, W. It was decided to send a cheque to Mr. Ward for the amount Mr. £.»',?*, pointed to the dissatisfaction occasioned by orders on firms for special prizes Ha thought that ii :• arm was inclined to gfvo p special prize thej should not oblige winners to go to Auckland to obtain it,. Messrs Steele ami Allen thought the association should- be sufficiently strong to do without canvassing for special prizes. " Hamilton Railway Bridge: A letter was received from Mr. F. W. Lang, M.H.R , inform ins the committee that the proposal to have a footway creeled over the Hamilton railway bridge, would have his hearty support. Secession of Members: 'the secretary read a long list of names, totalling 80, residing in the Cambridge district, who have decided to secede from the association. The resignations were accepted. Snow Ground: Mr. Swarbrick. solicitor to the association forwarded a resolution which he suggested should be passed in order to nave the association incorporated, and the matter of the show ground placed upon a proper footing. ..The chairman ruled that notice of motion was necessary. Several members expressed the opinion that the work ot incorporation should bo pushed on as speedily as possible. Another committee meeting is to be called for Wednesday, April 15, to deal with the matter. Executive: The ■ following members were elected an Executive Committee:— J G. Allen, W. Chitty, M. G. Farrer, E. B." Cox, John Knight, N. A. Larney, and I. Coates. General Committee: As the resisnations received included several members of the General Committee, it was decided to fill vacancies at next meeting. Cheques: Messrs. E. S. Brookfield and J. A. Milne were authorised to sign cheques Next Show: The Chairman said" that personally he was in favour of holding an autumn show. If this were arranged they would bo able to have the fruit and flower show held at the same time. Mr. Steel thought a spring show was most desirable, as it en- ; abled breeders to exhibit at both the Waikato and Auckland shows; besides, it was the best season for dairy cattle, horses, and sheep, and. further, it would be necessary to erect a large building if the fruit and flower "hows were held. Mr. Bay favoured a spring show, but thought it should be held a week later than usual. Mr. Knight did not think an autumn shew would do at all. If they once lost the spring show it was gone for ever. All the important shows in the colony were held in the spring. On the motion 'of Mr. Chitty, it was decided to adhere to the spring show, the date to be fixed .it next meeting. Rules: A committee consisting of the president, vice-president, and Mr. J. Knight was appointed to revise the rules of the association to Tie subsequently submitted to Mr. Swarbrick. Seats: It was decided to erect seats on the show ground
