Napier, Wednesday. The weather was again fine for the second day of the Napier Park Racing Club's Autumn Meeting, and there was a large attendance. The racing was very good, the finish for the principal event— .Bennett Memorial Stakes— one of the best seen on the course. The starting for most of the events was made with the startingmachine, and the despatches were all good. The investments on the totalisator amounted to £5840, making a total of £11,305 for the meeting. The following are the results: — SECOND HACK HURDLES of 50sovs. One mile and a-half. 190— N. H. Jeffrey's b g Sunmos, syrs, by Waitotara, lOst 121b (Lynch) ... •• 1 41—Mr. H. Hassall's Benedictine, lOst olb, including 81b over (Julian) ... 2 83—Mr. D. Barry's Morpeth, 9st 41b (Jones) 3 Also started: 134, Ogle, lOst 61b; 82, Sloightear, 9st 31b; 19, Modesty, 9st; 13, Garnet, 9st. Morpeth and Sloightear were in front the greater part of the journey, but Sunmos took command three furlongs from home and won cleverly by two lengths from Benedictine, who finished fast. Morpeth was a good third. Time, 2m. 50 3-ss. Dividends, £2 and £3 2s.

Croupier cut out the running and led into the straight, with Kowhete second and Mongonui third, and Shackle last, hut Davis brought the last-named up with a well-timed run and won by half-a-length from Croupier, who was a length in front of Kowhete.
