VISITORS FROM JAPAN.
[BY TELEGRAPH. — ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Thursday. Amongst the visitors to New Zealand are Messrs. T. Takaoka and Ando, the former j being director of the Colonial Department I in the Government of Hokkaido (Northern, ! Japan), and the latter Commissioner of Communication, Commerce, and Colonisation for Hokkaido. - They are travelling round the world, investigating the laud systems, and the conditions or commerce and agriculture in various countries. In the course of an interview with a Times representative, Mr. Takaoka said New Zealand might find a profitable market in Japan for many products. He thinks that some New Zealand ports should be included in the route of steamers now running between Australia and Japan. [BY TEIEGBAPH — OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Thursday. Mr. Ando and Mr. Takaoka, representing the Government of Hokkaido (Northern Japan) - are to travel through the North Island, and will leave Auckland on the 26th inst. for America. From America they are to go to England and various parts of Europe, including Northern Germany, and on their return to Japan they will furnish a report to the Government, giving the result of their observations. The two delegates arrived in Sydney on January 21, and since that time they have visited various places in New South Wales, and have also travelled in Victoria and South Australia. In their tour they included a visit to Dr. Hay's station, Coolangatta, and inspected the New South Wales agricultural college at Richmond.
