AUCKLAND GAS COMPANY.
THE 41st annual meeting of the Auckland Gas Company was held on Feb. 2 in the company's office, Wyndham-street. Mr. J. H. Upton, chairman of the company, presided, and there was a good attendance of shareholders. The report of the directors was read as follows: —The directors have the pleasure to report a satisfactory year's business. The profit for the year is £29,471 18s 6d, which leaves, after payment of the usual dividend, a balance of £6376 18s feci. The increase in the quantity of gas sold is 8.87 per cent., arid of the value of £5508 12s 4d. A call was made on August. 21 of 10s per .share (or with premium 15s), being the last of the uncalled capital. All shares are now therefore fully paid. Mr. T. Ching and Mr. T. Peacock retire from the Board by rotation: they are eligible, and offer themselves for re-election. The auditors retire in accordance with the articles, and they offer themselves for reappointment. The report and balance-sheet were unanimously adopted. The Chairman moved, and Mi". J. Savage seconded, the re-election of Messrs. T. Ohitig rind T. Peacock as directors of the company, which was carried unanimously. Mr. Ching, who was present, returned thanks for his election.
On the motion of Mr. Thos. Allen, seconded by Dr. McDowell. Messrs. A. W. Thomson and J. F. Buddie were re-ap-pointed auditors, at the same remuneration as Inst year—£2s each. Mr. G. A. Buttle moved a vote of thanks to the directors, secretary, engineer and officers of the company, and the motion was unanimously passed. It was then unanimously agreed that a dividend of 7s 6d be paid on the paid-up shares, and a proportionate amount on the partly-paid-up shares.
