The following cable has been received by the Department of Industries and Commerce from the Agent-Goncral, dated London, February 10: — "Importations of frozen mutton from the Argentine into the United Kingdom during the month of January were 256,294 carcases, of which 190,709 were landed at Liverpool, 44,253 at London, 6526 at Cardiff, 8006 at Hull, and 6800 at Newcastle. The average price realised was 4{d per. lb. 24,802 carcases of lamb were imported, of which 12.4 carcases wore landed at Liverpool, 8069 at London, 2000 at Cardiff, 1200 at Hull, and 1046 at Newcastle. The average price realised was sid per lb. " The quantitv of butter imported from the Argentine into the United Kingdom during January was 11,717cwt, which was landed at the ports of Liverpool and London. The average price realised was 102s per cwt." Tho Agent-General advises that heavv entries of crossbred wool are anticipated for the March sales. At Addington market in fat cattle 125 head were yarded. Prime beef sorts were rather easier than at the previous sale.
