LIME AND SAND BRICKS.
A PROBABLE NEW INDUSTRY. [by telegraph.OTO CORRESPONDENT.] Paeroa, Saturday. There has recently appeared in the Herald an advertisement over the name of Harcourt and Co., Wellington, respecting indestructible lime and sand bricks. This led Messrs. Edwards and Co.. of Paeroa, to communicate with the firm in question regarding the possibility of utilising some of the sands from the' islands at Mackaytown, where thousands upon thousands of tons of tailings have been deposited by freshes. Edwards and Co. also forwarded samples of the sands, with the result that they have received a reply to the effect that the samples sent have all the appearance of Plimmerton sand analysed at Wellington, and appear to be identical with the sands in the bricks. Harcourt and Co. promise to again communicate with Edwards and Co. when samples of the bricks and fullest details have arrived from London. If the sand in question at Mackaytown is suitable it will be the means of starting a new and important industry in the district.
