BY inquiries of the secretary of the Thame,* Harbour Board, it lias been ascertained that mi quantity of cargo for up-country districts when the Pneroa-Waihi railway is connected will bo very large. According to the secretary's statement, the Waihi Company state that they would land about 2000 toiiH of COal per month. A timber firm state i.nat, uiey would be shipping: about 12,000,000 ft tv,.,V n , I 'i' el ' a ye ?T\ v *>"*- Cra, 'f? and Co. say that they would land over 24.000 tons of coal tw y ,* :lt \, , lhc ? rand Junction state that they would land 25.000 tons jai coal wer vear, ann more as the company extended its operations. * All this, it must be remembered, is 'i rmct from the lonre consignments of general good* that would lie made. The formation work* at the Waihi end of the Paeroau:nin railway have not yot been commenced <ic?p!tc such encouraging prospects.
