THAMES BOROUGH COUNCIL.
[BY telegraph.— CORRESPONDENT.] . „ • Thames Thursday. AT the Borough Council meeting this evening, a letter was received from the Thames Drainage Board, requesting the Council to & a contribution towards the maintenance of the Big Pump during the ensuing year: but the consideration of the matter was referred to the Finance Committee. The Minister for Lands, in. reply to a letter from the Council urging the Government to establish a toy service across the Thames i River at Torus, wrote stating that he t was willing to regrant a sum of £309, which had been placed on the Estimates some time ago for the work in question, provided the service was established and carried on without further assistance from iiii„? 0 + Ve i'^ Xt was decided to refer the letter to the Thames County Council, in whose strict the site of the proposed ferry is situa •.. 9lv. tlle i a ? tl °" of the Mayor, a committee of the whole Council was appointed to take into consideration the necessary steps for lighting the town either with gas or electricity. A notice of motion given by Mr. JJavey at the previous meeting, that the incoming Mayor be given an honorarium of £58 lapsed. The town clerk informed the Council that after paying all expenses in connection with the acquirement of the Victoria Reserve, there still remained to the of£4b3 recr eation reserve fund a balance
