THE GOVERNOR IN AUCKLAND.
His Excellency the Governor, Lord Ranfttcly, accompanied by the Hon. C. HillTrevor, A.D.C., arrived at Onehunga by the s.s. Rotoiti, from New Plymouth, yesterday morning. His Excellency was met at the wharf by the Mayor of Auckland (Mr. A. Kidd), Captain Boscawcn, Hon. A.D.C., and Colonel Davies, C.B. On the way into town two or three suggested sites for the proposed veterans' homo were inspected. The party was then driven to Government House, where the English cricketers called upon the Governor during the afternoon. To-day Lord Ranfurly will visit some more sites that have been suggested for the veterans' home, and this evening, at a-quar-ter to eight o'clock, he will make the presentation of the Grammar School prizes in the Chora! Hall. To-morrow afternoon, at the Harbour Board's office, at four o'clock, the Governor will, on behalf of the subscribers, make a presentation to Captain W. D. Reid, in recognition of his conduct in connection with the Elingamite disaster. At half-past four p.m. he will pay a visit to the rooms of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. His Excellency will attend the cricket match between the English team and the Auckland representatives on Saturday, and will leave for New Plymouth, en route for Wellington, by the s.s.
