THE COMING ELECTIONS.
[BY. TELKGKArH.— ASSOCIATION.] Hawkra, Friday. Tip delegates from the Farmers* Union branches in the Patea electorate have decided to organise in view of the elections, and submit quest -to candidates, answers to be returnable in a fortnight.' Mr. Bodie is mentioned as likely to be a candidate. The delegates' branches at Haven electorate also met. At the outset there was.a diversity of opinion, some delegates holding that the union members should not as a. body support a particular candidate, but have freedom to vote for any candidate who subscribed to the union platform. Eventually, Messrs. Dive, Ostburv, and ' 1 arlane were nominated by the brandies. Questions ill be submitted to all declared candidates, and a selection made at a meeting in a fortnight. Christchcrch, Friday. Mr. A. E. G. Rhodes, who has been mentioned as a likely candidate for the Avon seat, states that he does not intend to take part in any of the contests of the coining election. Wellington", Friday. The two latest candidates for the Wellington city seat are Messrs. das. Godber (Liberal) and Hugh Cameron (party not stated). Pauiksstox North, Friday. In response to a, telegram from the Manawahi Agricultural and Pastoral Association relative to the probability of the dates of the general elections, if held in the middle of November, proving detrimental to the* interests of the show on November 12. 13, and 14, the Acting-Premier has stated that he will see that the fixture is not interfered with by the election. The Waitemata roll is now beiug printed. All claims and transfers not yet put in should be forwarded at once to* Mr. J. C. Webster, registrar, Devonport.
