[from OCR OWN CORRESrOXD&O.i CAMBRIDGE. AN entertainment in aid of St. Andrew's Church, choir fund was held on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance, and everything passed off successfully. The Cambridge Orchestral Society (under Mr. J. H. Edwards) played three selections, which were greatly appreciated. The remaining items were:—" Japanese Lore -Song," Mrs. Polwarth; trio, " Romance." Herr En gel (violin), Mr. E. Kempe ('cello), Mr. Eraser ( piano solo, " 'Mid the Hush of the Corn," Miss E. Cave; solo, "The Toilers," Mr. E. Bouillon; mandolin solo (encored). Mr. Sanders; solo, " Oh, Promise Me" (encored), Miss J. Clark; solo, " I Trust You Still" (encored). Miss "Walker; solo. Miss E. Cave. The entertainment concluded with a comedietta entitled, " After Dinner," the parts in which were sustained by Mrs. Polwarth (Blanche), Mr. W. Madison (Colonel Coldycs), Mr. Arnold Wilkinson (Peter Piper), and Messrs. Shepherd and Parnell (constables). The accompaniments to the vocal items were provided by Mesdames Pilrlier and Couper, Miss E. Skeet, and Messrs. Eraser and Hartly. The Rev. Archdeacon Willis returned thanks to all who had assisted in making the concert a success. Captain Walker has been appointed instructor to the public school teachers' military classes to be held at Hamilton. TE AWAMUTC. A PING-PONG tournament between Te Awamutit and Pukerimu players took place in the readingroom on Wednesday. There was a large attendance of spectators. There were 10 plavers on each side. After some keenlycontested matches Te Awamutu was declared winner by 17 games to eight. After the tournament refreshments were handed round and several vocal and instrumental selections were rendered. A number of new books have been placed on the shelves of the library. The proceeds from the opening entertainment and the donations received will enable the committee to furnish the new building, which will be done at once. The following have been elected commissioners for the Te Awamutu town district: — G. M. A. Ahier, 35; William North, 33; ,T. B. Teasdale, 33; S. C. Matthews, 31; J. E. Andrew, 19. KIHIKIHI. THE following have been elected commissioners for the town district:W. H. Grace, 35; J. Clifford, 34; J. G. Elrasly, 33; F. Corboy, 31; J. R. Moody, 23.
