I'urford Hooke, of London, secretary of the Congregational Colonial Missionary Society. He delivered an interesting address on *' The Work of the Society," taking as I lis text St. Mark i. 38, " He said unto them, Lot us go into the next town;, that I may preach there also; for therefore came J forth." This passage, said the preacher, was specially applicable to the work of the Colonial .[Missionary Society, whose object was to speak to those near a;, hand rather than to go far afield. KNOX CHURCH ANNIVERSARY. Special services wore held at the Knox Church, Pamell, yesterday, tho occasion being the third anniversary of the church 'I'ho •{'■ v. Hugh Kelly, M.A.. preached U> a large congregation at the morning service, choosing his text from Bphc.sians i. 3, "Blessed be the God and Father ~[ our Lord Jesus Christ. Who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." Mr. 0. 11. Poole conducted a service during the afternoon, and the Rev. J. Wilkin.-, ministered in tin- evening, there being good congregations on both occasions. There was also appropriate music by the choir under Mr. •'. Bennett.
