THE MOUNT KEMBLA DISASTER.
VERDICT OF THE JURY. By telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright.', Sydney, September 12. Titk inspector of collieries has formed two. theories regarding the Mount Kembla disaster. One is that a fall of stone, dislodged, the pas, the other that. Morris and his bow. had ignited a. small quantity of fire-damp in the heading where they were working. This raised coal-dust, and drove it over a naked light. causing a greater explosion.: The indications are conflicting, and he is nimble to give one theory greater credence', than the other. His view is that a small - percentage of gas would cause a dust ex-' plosion, a quantity so small, indeed, that: the ordinary safety lamp would fail to detect its presence. • (Received September 13. 0.55 a.m.) Sydney, September 12. The jury found that the deaths at Mount.' Kembla were due to carbon monoxide, produced by the explosion of firedamp, ignited by the naked lights used in. the mine, and : accelerated by a series of explosions of coaldust. '
