Pukekohe Horse Pale: Ob Monday and Tuesday last we held our annual spring sale of horses. There was a large number brought forward, and the demand foil sound and young was keen. Heavy draughts, £20 te £33; horses, fit for express • work, £25 to £33; heavy two and three-year-old colts, and fillies, £24 19s to £34; .hacks and trap horses, £10 10s to £22; light harness and common hacks, £0 to £9 lCs; and a large number of weedy sorts from £1 10s upwards. Grain, etc.: No chance in oats. Maize dropped to 3s Cd in sympathy with Sydney market, damaged from 2s 6d to 3s Id, at auction. The Waioku Yards were fairly well filled with stock un Saturday, and satisfactory prices were obtained. Dairy cows brougui from £':> 168 to £7 17s 6rl; dry, £2 103 to £3 15s; fat, £5 10s to £7 10s; strong calves, 259 to 30s. No grown steers yarded. Pigs were better I worth. Potatoes, small bags, is <kl to 7s 6d i bay. We held our cattle fair at Heierisville.on Wednesday, and disposed of jorai; 3:6 head of cattle. Three to four-year-old steers brought from £5 15? to £7 2s 6d; two to three-years, £4 tfls to £5 10s; strong calves, 25s to 40s; dry cows, £2 lis to £4; springers. £'1 10s to £6 • store sheen, 7a 9d. At Remuera ou Thursday dairy cows sold from £5 to £3; dry, £3 to £4 10s ; grown fiteers, £7 s<_ calves, 25a to 35s ; young bulls, j £3 Ms t4> £6 10s. Fat and .voting calves, penned in average numbers, improved in value; very few ani.lM came forward, those fetched extreme values. Medium sold from 12s to 18*others up to 4*s; hoary, 61s (561 fold). There was a full muster of fat stock, and all of good quality. Fat sheep came forward short of requirements, and improved in value. Porkers, £1 Is to £2 os; weaners, 5s 6d to 12s 9d. At Pukekohe on Wednesday thine was a large muster of dairy and store cattle, the demand being good. Dairy cows sold from £4 10s to £7 ss; empty cows, £2 13s t<v £3 15s: heifers, £1 15s to £5 ss; yearling steers, £1 los to £2 8s; grown steers, £4 15s to» £6 17s 6d. Fat cattle at Newmarket rates. At the clearing sale of live and dead stock held on account of Mr. G. E. McCrae. Mangere, on Saturday, there was a good attendance and very satisfactory prices were realised. Dairy cows sold up to £8 15s; farm horses, £18 10s to £33. Hides: There was a large catalogue on Tuesday, when competition was good and the market closed firm. Tallow: A keener demand was experienced for all lines of good colour. Best in shipping packages realised up to £1 5s 6d; broken packages, to £1 4s 6d; mutton, £1 5s 6d; rough fat, lid. Maize: The market was weak on Monday at 3s 6d f.0.b.. about 1000 sacks being left on hand after supplying Sydney orders. Oats: Firm at 3s on wharf for " B'' grade in wholesale lines. Chaff: Continues firm at an advance of 5s on previous week's rate. Potatoes: Prime Canterhttrys are now quoted at £5 !5s ex store, with a firm market. Sheep: Forward wethers, 13s 7d. WAVKBLEY AND WAN GAS Messrs. Freeman XI. Jackson and Co. re- \ port..- our Waverley sale on Friday we had a good yarding. Bidding was brisk throughout, all clauses of cattle selling freely. Sheep were in better demand, good hoggets selling at advanced rates. At Wangamii we had a fall yarding, though Hot selling many peas of cattle at auction. We disposed of everything afterwards, with the exception of one line of steers and a few cows, otherwise we had a total clearance, everything selling at lull value?, according to quality. A nice line of grows bullocks were disposed of at auction, ranging from £6 10s 6d to £6 14s. All springing heifers showing well in calf were all disposed of, but backward ones were harder to quit. .Several pens of ahee* came forward and mat a ready sale, all being sold, with the exception of a small pen of hoggets, at better prices. A small entry of pigs sold well.
