September 11. j Kilatjea, Stromboli and two Alas- i kan volcanoes are in active eruption. j j Stromboli is one of the Lipari islands and i has an active volcano (the ccrao oOZiit). j which erupts every five minutes what happens to be little else than steam. The island i" 12 miles in circuit ami contains about 1000 inhabitants. Kilsmii, in Hawaii, is the largest active volcano in the world. It is over 4000 ft above the sea level. Its < rater is of oval shape, nine miles in circumference, bounded by & range of cliffs and containing within it a fiery lake of molten lava, rising and felling lika the waves of the sea. ■-—— r —■—r-r
