EARTHQUAKE SHOCKS AT CHEVIOT.
CHIMNEYS CRACKED

The heaviest was at halfpast eleven p.m., but the (-.hocks continued during the night, with more or less severity. A number of chimneys were badly cracked, and ii :.• imported thai a heavy slip has taken place on the Bluff Road. " A slight shock was felt in Chris!church and throughout the iioiihein district.
