EARLY CLOSING.
STATEMENT BY SIR J. WAHD. [BY 'ITMvGIMI'H.— -PRESS ASSOCIATION'.]
Wki.i.i:,-i.h;:c. Thursday. A deputation to the Acting-Pi urged that, uniformity for the colony should be aimed at ;u the mutter of early chitting, dealt with in the Bill now before Parliament. Sir Joseph Ward, in replying, said the ditliculty of inserting a compulsory clause for the whole colony was that there were different conditions in different parts. For that reason the derisions arrived at should be local ones, so that the people could regulate their own hours of closing. The matter, however, would be investigated.
