It transpires that Queen of Sheba, the winner of the Metropolitan Stakes, was backed by the stable to win £5000, at long prices, ranging from 100 to 3. OHINEMURI JOCKEY CLUB. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] PaEBOa, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Ohiuemuri Jockey Club was held in the Criterion Theatre, Paeroa, last evening, and was well attended. Mr. Phillips, chairman of the committee, presided, and the report; and balance-sheet were read by the secretary. These showed that the season had been a. most successful one, and the club had made a profit of £336 on the meeting. A number of improvements had been effected on the course, and a new totalisator house erected. The election of four members of the committee then took place, the following being successful: —Messrs. P. Delaney, Clarkson, A. E. Fielder and W. J. Ellis. The Avondale Cup and plying Stakes is engaging a. fair amount of attention at the hands of backers. The most favoured selection, is Formula and Wairiki. During yesterday the stable mate--.. Grey Seaton and Lavalette, were supported. Acceptances in connection with the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting close to-morrow night at nine o'clock. Lavadcl was yesterday struck out of the Maiden Plate, "to lie rim on the opening day of tho Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting. The privileges in connection with the Avondale Jockey Club's Spring Meeting are to be offered by auction at the Haymarket to-morrow at noon, by Messrs. Alfred Buckland and Sons. The same firm will also oft'or the following horses on the same day at half-past twelve p.m. :Lady Bobs, 2yrs, by Soult—First Love: La. Polish, by St. Leger—Polish ; Blueeap, by MuskapeerJennie; Blueskin, by Pinfire— Bess; brown filly by Sonlt—Jennie. Owing to the owner having decided to give up racing the- Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company will offer by auction to-morrow, at. th» Durham Yards, that smart filly Austerlitz (by Sonlt— Sappho), winner of the A.R.C.
