MR. JOHN KING.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,—l fail to see the justico or common sense of the attack -on . Mr. John i King, ; Deputy-Registrar of Pensions. What does-: it amount to? The old ago pensioners approached the member for Parnell (Mr. F. Lawry), and said they were anxious to show their feelings : towards the Premier '. for passing the Act. Mr. * Lawry ■;■ mentioned the mattoi to Mr. John King, hence the 'subscription list, for Is each. For simply doing what the old age pensioners desired, a whole sitting,' as reported in your columns, is lost, onding in a vain attempt to -, reduce • the officer's salary £25 per annum. .-v;; Every, attack made on the gentleman in question has ended in smoke. Even;tho Hon. Mr. Mitchelson ; withdrew the ; statements': he '■:' made. I have known Mr. John King since 1863, and have nothing to. thank , him ; for. .-But to attack a. valued , public servant on I the ; floor of the House, where he is unable -to defend himself, is as dishonourable as it is unjust. At all events, 'Mr.' King's enemies have again failed.— am, etc., 11. J. Feltiis.
