Bidding for some lines was slack, whilst others were well competed for. Fat cattle sold at good values. At Wanganui more stock than advertised came . forward. Bidding for cattle was spirited throughout, especially for all classes of young stock, and nearly all sold under the hammer. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs. Freeman 11. Jackson ami Co., in conjunction with Abraham and Williams, report on August 5 on their Joiinsonville sale as follows: average yarding of bullocks. With the exception of two or three pens of rough, heavy weights the yarding was of prime quality, and was keenly competed for. We quote:' Beef at £1 3s; extra heavy weights were at lower rates; extra heavy bullocks, £11 15s to £11 17s: 6d: prime bullocks. £10 to £10 7s 6d; others, £9 to £9 17s 6d. Sheep were in fall supply, but with the exception of one line were of second-rate sorts. Best wethers, 15s; others, 12s 6d to 13s 6d. Ewes, lis 9d. .
