ANNUAL DISTRICT MfiETIXG. The annual meeting of the Council of the New Zealand" district 1.0. K. was held in Pai'kinson's rooms on Tuesday night. The following officers were present: —D.C.R., Brother 0. Wheeler; D.D.R.. Brother F. Knight; P.8.C.Pv,,; Brother John Stallworthy: D. see., Brother .T. (1. Carr: D. treas.. Brother P. Crowe; ' D.G., Brother S. Whitehouse. (■■ *.Tiie, ! following representatives from the. various\ tents of the order -wore also present:—brothers J. Ewan, J. E. Wil'Ham's, J. W. Stewart. F. J. Eflisdon, E. J. Carr (Auckland), F. C. Knight (Newmarket), J. Danby.M. Paul (Thames), J. Stallworthy, (Kaipara), George Carter (Nortlicote), W. R. Beaver (Oneliunga), C. Wheeler (Whangaroa), and- W. F. Seymour (Waihi). • ■; , The district : officers', report showed progross. Three new tents had been opened during the year. Seventy-nine new adult members had been admitted, and l the membership on June 25 (the close of the financial year) was 472, with 230 registered wives and 47 honorary members. The amount paid out by tents for sick pay was £587, an average of £1 4s lOd per member. Tne heaviest calls had been in the goldfiekls district. The tent sick,funds had an accumulated capital of £7600;. being an increase ;of £326 for the year. , The touts' .management funds . amounted to £142. ; The whole of the funds are safely invested, and bearing interest at a fraction ;■ under. 5. per cent. ' In addition to the above, the district funeral fund has £4286, an increase for the year of £221, \ and the district contingent fund £62. The total funds of tents and district were £12,091, an average of £25 12s 4d per member. The report was received. > v ' ! ' - Brother J.' M. Bart' read the trustees' report. . All tlie funds are closely .invested, and the trustees have applications for further loans at- 5 per cent. Recent inspection .of properties held : showed that they were all satisfactory and improving!? so. , A hearty vote, of thanks was accorded the trustees for their excellent attention to their work. ■'. : The-report of the auditors (Brothers NT. Paul and W. R. Beaver) was adopted. The District Juvenile Committee's report was read by Brother Angelo binith. Two new tents had been opened at Northcote, and the other at Waihi, and the juvenile - membership was 143 boys and 31: girls. Their funds amounted ,to £252 6s 6d: an "increase of £18 for the year. Received. ' . A considerable amount of correspondence was read and dealt with. The Wellington Friendly Societies' Conference asked the district to reciprocate in the matter of medical benefits,'so that a member of one friendly society may secure the services of the doctor of another society nearer his place, of - residence. : The proposal was heartily approved and commended to the various tents, most of which . ere already carrying it out. ■ The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—D.C.E.. A past officer's certificate was presented to Brother John Stallworthy and suitably acknowledged. On the invitation of the Eden Tent, representative, it was decided to hold the next council meeting at Newmarket.
