A NORTHCOTE RESIDENT FOUND DEAD.
At about mid-day yesterday a widow lady named Eliza Nixon, aged about 70, who resided "at Gladstone Road, Northcote, was discovered lying dead in the front room of her house. It appears that she was last seen alive on Saturday by Frank McLeod, baker, in the employ of Mr. John Clow, who T,t noon on that day served her with a loaf of bread. Since then he had called at the house several times, but had see& no signs of Mrs. Nixon, and yesterday reported this fact to his employer. The latter informed Constable D. Howies, and together they went to Mrs. Nixon's house. Here they found her lyihj; on her face in front of the : firelace, I a broken teapot lying near her, as though she had fallen in a fit and dropped it;.-' She had apparently been dead two days. Mrs. Nixon was known by all the residents of Gladstone Road, Northcote, and is said ,to have been subject to epileptic fits. She had no family. The matter has been reported to Mr. Gresham (coroner), who has decided to hold an inquest this morning at -the residence of Mr. Wat/ord, Northcote. Dr. Laing will make a post-mortem examination. --
