THE TRINIDAD. ' , , • The barquentine Trinidad, from Auckland to New York, with a cargo of kauri gum, which put into Barbados on June 15 in distress, encountered a severe gale on June 9, In lat. 8.40 N. long. 45.45 W.. during which the foretopmast and niaJntopinast . were carried away, besides a number of sails. The vessel was not leaking. „ NEW Oil- LAUNCH. * A new oil launch, named the Iris, has just been sent away by Mr. C. Bailey, juu., to Port Waikato The launch, which has been built ? to the order of Mr. E. Spargo, of that place, is 30ft long, and is fitted with a five horse-power Union oil engine, supplied by Messrs. W. A. Ryan and Co., and on her trial trip averaged a rate of speed of five miles per hour. The launch is intended for general passenger and towing work on the Waikato River, and should be a great convenience to travellers on the river.
