OBITUARY.
[by TELEGRAPH.—- PRESS ASSOCIATION.] ; Wellington, Saturday. A private cable received announces the death in Dumbarton, Scotland, of Mr. Alex. Baird, well known throughout the colonies as one of the Union Steamship Company's oldest engineers. ■ Deceased was for some time engineer to the Otago Harbour Board. He went Home on holiday leave six months ago with his wife. '
